Music is one of the most important parts of making your wedding both enjoyable and unforgettable. The beauty and intimacy that is created from solo classical and acoustic guitar is ideal for weddings and enhances the enjoyment of all in attendance. My solo guitar music will add both memories and class to your wedding ceremony or reception dinner. I am a dedicated professional who prides myself on my ability to cater directly to each wedding party, making sure that they are taken care of from start to finish. My repertoire is extensive with over seven hours of memorized music to choose from, with countless tunes to play according to each wedding parties tastes. I have transcribed contemporary works from artists as diverse as the Beach Boys, Elvis, Sting, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and many more. My repertoire includes both well known pieces (including classical/romantic, and contemporary pieces) and "secret gems" that would be favorites if the listener was more familiar with the guitar repertoire. Click on "Repertoire" for a full list of pieces. Interested in booking me? Inquire about availability here: email@example.com. Let me help you create the soundtrack to your wedding!
Example of a common wedding ceremony:
(Click on the "Repertoire" link to get an idea of some popular pieces to play in specific sections of the wedding)
PRELUDE: 10-30 minutes of playing (depending on wedding needs). Your guests are treated to a "mini-concert" as they arrive to reflect and prepare for your big entrance.
PROCESSIONAL *Entrance of bridal party- usually one song or piece played while the party enters.
*Entrance of bride- special song or piece for the entrance of bride.
Live guitar will make your grand entrance emotional and unforgettable.
INTERLUDE (SONG BETWEEN READINGS)-Song played to create separation from the readings. A great time to reflect on the moment while music serenade's you. A piece of music can be performed for mixing of sand, lighting of unity candle, etc.
RECESSIONAL/POSTLUDE: The couple has exchanged their vows and they exit, followed by the bridal party.
Usually I play 10 minutes after the recessional until the wedding guests have cleared out. I generally play upbeat, fun pieces here to keep up with the
jubilant mood all are feeling.
I'm available for cocktail hour/dinner receptions as well! I play a mix of upbeat South American, contemporary, classical, and pop classics to keep the wedding guests entertained and open to comfortable conversation with others.
I use an a battery powered PA SYSTEM and keep the volume at a comfortable level without being overbearing.
A few wedding testimonials:
We highly recommend Jim. He was so easy to work with and exceptionally professional. He was there early, totally prepared with all the songs we had asked for, and played beautifully. We had several guests comment on the lovely music. The portion of our ceremony with background music went very long. Jim's response was seamless. He kept playing and worked in several more songs that were perfect for the moment. His work is a great value. He is a top-notch professional and charges less than most of his caliber. He even provided a microphone (and a stand at the last minute!) for our officiant, which saved us having to rent one. Thanks Jim! - Erin B. Wedding on 6/10/17
Jim was amazing! We absolutely loved the music - he is so talented! It was so cool that he learned a song just for us and also customized the ceremony and cocktail hour with the music that we love. Thank you so much!

My husband and I knew right away that we wanted a guitarist to play at our wedding ceremony. As I was searching online, I came across Jim Falbo, and I couldn't have found a more perfect musician for our day. He had such a wide range of songs from his repertoire that I had no problem picking out which ones would be the right fit for our special day! He was great to work with- very professional, fast in responding to questions and very reasonably priced! All of our guests raved about Jim and I am so glad we chose him! -Kelsey N. wedding on 6/11/16 reviewed on weddingwire.com
Jim played for our wedding in June and he was brilliant. He beautifully played the song he learned for our wedding and most helpful, he managed to go with the flow as parts of our ceremony shifted last minute. He went with the changes and played accordingly and beautifully. Many of our guests also commented on his playing and professionalism. We highly recommend him. - Deborah H. wedding on 6/5/16. reviewed on weddingwire.com
Jim was absolutely incredible to work with during the entire process of getting our wedding music prepared. He met with us on a few occasions to make recommendations and he provided us with samples to help us select the best music for our ceremony. We also selected the option to have Jim play one selection not usually in his repertoire. We selected music written by a friend of ours who would not be attending the wedding. Jim did an amazing job with the song. Our guests raved about how great the music was and we would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding musician. - Jennifer E. wedding on 5/7/16 reviewed on theknot.com
"Jim did the most amazing job with our ceremony music. I originally was going to go with just playing a CD for our ceremony with a couple songs but we found Jim online, I went and checked out a couple of his YouTube videos and immediately fell in love with his version of "All of Me" by John Legend. I didn't want it to be cheesy having a song probably everyone had chosen but Jim's version is completely unique and BEAUTIFUL. It was one of those things that when you hear something amazing you get chills all over your body and I just said yes, we have to have him. I had been worried that my husband to be wouldn't have the reaction of "WOW!" when I walked down the aisle because we were going to do pictures beforehand and he would already see me but Jim definitely helped change my thoughts and I knew he would be the difference in getting that wow factor and my now husband said he was definitely holding back tears (and he never cries!) so I think that says something about Jim's talent for sure! I would recommend him to anyone, he has an amazing talent and you would be lucky to hire him! Thanks Jim!" - Cydney G. (wedding on 4/30/16) reviewed on weddingwire.com
"Jim is an incredible musician with outstanding people-skills. Everyone came up to me to ask who our guitarist was and told us how much they loved the music he played. Jim is super, super easy to work with and just a joy to be around. He was one of the best choices we made for our special day and if I did it over again right now I'd hire him again." - Lynn M. (wedding on 3/4/2016) reviewed on weddingwire.com
"Jim's arrangements are beautiful and he plays flawlessly. He has great communication and is extremely friendly. Jim's repertoire covers anything you'd want played or he is willing to learn new material. I would highly recommend him! He made our ceremony beautiful, simple, and personal. Loved him!" - Heather A. (wedding on 10/31/15).
"Jim was fantastic to work with. Not only was his musical performance during our ceremony beautiful - many guests mentioned throughout the night they loved the acoustic music - but he was courteous and easy to work with. As milestones arrived for our planning, he would help keep us on track to ensure he had what he needed for a wonderful performance. Thank you, Jim, for helping us have a magical day. Your music helped set the perfect soundtrack for our wedding. Our guests had so much fun identifying the different songs and then sharing memories those stores evoked. Thank you again!" - Jennifer (wedding on 10/3/15). reviewed on weddingwire.com
Jim Falbo was wonderful to work with for our wedding. I loved the music he played at our ceremony. It was perfect. Jim was professional and prompt in answering all emails and calls. He helped me through choosing the music and even sent me a CD of some of his work. This was so helpful especially planning from out of state. Jim also learned a specific song for our ceremony that was very special to us. I would absolutely recommend Jim for your wedding and/or event! Thank you Jim! - Amy N. (wedding on 7/25/15). reviewed on weddingwire.com

Jim was amazing at our wedding! There was a last minute change that he wasn't informed of before the ceremony (sorry!) but he was able to handle it without any hesitation. We were so happy we had him play at our wedding, it really added that special touch we were looking for! I would highly recommend him to play at any event, as he is very professional, fun, and easy to work with. - Jillian B. (wedding on 7/10/15).
"Jim was fantastic. He played guitar for our wedding on 6/14 and provided a beautiful accompaniment to our ceremony. Not only was he a great guitarist, he was super easy to work with. Emails always received a prompt response, he was very helpful in his comments on the ceremony and worked with us to provide what we wanted. As part of his fee, he will arrange a piece of your choosing not normally in his repertoire. I highly suggest taking him up on this. He arranged Raspberry Beret by Prince for us and it was fantastic! We were planning an outside ceremony and didn't know for sure that we could be outside until 45 minutes before the wedding. Jim was flexible and set up quickly as soon as we knew where we would be. He was very reliable and professional. It was great to have amazing music without having to worry about it." - Mike O. (wedding: 6/14/2014)
"Jim is not only a wonderful musician, but he's also great to work with when planning an event. The scheduling process was very easy, and he was always quick to respond to emails. He helped us select the best music for our wedding ceremony and played it absolutely beautifully! Many of our guests even commented on how much they enjoyed the music. We felt very lucky to have him as our musician." - Melissa T. (wedding on 6/27/2014).
"Jim was wonderful. I got many complements from my guests on what a great guitarist he was. He was on time, responded to my emails quickly and was very professional. I can't say enough good things about him. Most importantly his music was beautiful and his talent and passion for the guitar shines through his playing. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for a guitarist for their special event." (Kim P.) (Wedding: 06/08/2013)

Popular interlude pieces:
The interlude helps create separation between readings, and brings a time to reflect on your special day. Music played in this section tends to be slower, and reflective, thus helping you take in the moment. Some wedding parties choose to do a "mixing of the sand," or put a letter in a lock box to be opened many years later. Some wedding parties choose to go hug their parents, and others choose to stand back and enjoy the music. Some choose not to have an interlude, it's all dependent on what you are looking for!

-My most popular recorded classical/romantic wedding pieces can be found at www.jimfalboguitar.com/media and my YouTube channel also has more contemporary pieces. View my full repertoire on the bottom of this page for pieces that are not yet recorded. I have over 7 hours of pieces to choose from and have not even come close to recording them all!
Microphone and mic stand (if needed). Please let me know in advance if your officiant needs one. Shure SM57, (the most popular vocal microphone) for officiant and bridal party to use. The mic connects to my P.A system and can be used in conjunction with my guitar, saving you money on outside PA rental. The mic has a cord, if you wish to have a cordless mic, the wedding party will be responsible for PA rental. There is no additional charge for using my P.A. system :)
Guitar amplification - I have a Denon Envoi Go battery powered (up to 5 hours) 200 watt P.A. system that's perfect for any occasion, and kept at a level allowing for comfortable conversation during cocktail hour and/or dinner reception. I use an acoustic/electric classical guitar and an acoustic/electric steel string guitar, according to the wedding parties needs.
Additional services not included in the ceremony basic package:
Day before wedding rehearsals- Your officiant is the one in charge of the order of the wedding. I follow what you have instructed the officiant, and I arrive early (30-45 minutes) after set-up to go over the details with the officiant. Almost all clients use the consultation on the phone or with e-mail and choose not to hire for this portion of the wedding. Quite frankly things change frequently throughout the course of your actual wedding day. That's why you need an experienced, and flexible musician like myself to help you through the day! I have played rehearsal dinners, and had the directions for the wedding party change completely the next day. As long as the pieces and/or songs each party wants are picked out in the correct order, a simple PDF file sent via e-mail will take care of the need for me to be in attendance. Pieces can be shortened or lengthened depending on the length of time it takes for each part of the ceremony i.e. bridal entrance, bridal party entrance, piece between readings, etc. This is where I use my discretion, according to how many people are in the bridal party, and how long it takes the bridal party, and bride/groom to enter.
- Travel/accomodation costs for weddings outside the Twin Cities area (TBD).
- Custom arrangements: Price TBD
Outdoor Weddings and Weather
I love playing at outdoor weddings! However, my guitar and equipment will not tolerate any moisture. This means that even if it is only misting or drizzling, I will need to play under some sort of shelter, or the ceremony will need to be moved to its alternate indoor location. It's also best to keep me in the shade if possible, as the heat or direct exposure to sunlight can cause damage to my equipment including cracks and breaks, glue coming undone, etc. Guitars are very sensitive to direct sunlight and adverse effects to the instrument can occur. A half- hour long ceremony is usually not a problem, but for prolonged exposure, please designate a spot near the shade.
** If I am ever sick (has never happened for a wedding) a full refund will be given (inluding deposit) and I will do everything I can to find a replacement guitarist. Rates will differ for each replacement guitarist.
